New Years Treat

Hello all you Roberts readers! My name is Jesseca, and I run the blog

Sweet Treats By Jesseca!

I love the holiday's, but they tend to be more of a marathon for my family. We have parties left and right! When we think we finally get a break from all of the festivities, New Years sneaks up on us! Today I'm going to show you how to put together a quick dessert to help bring in the New Year!

Chocolate Pomegranate Bundt Cake

Original recipe can be  found at Baking Bites

  • Roberts disposable bundt cake pan (available in all Roberts stores, not available online)
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups pure pomegranate juice (such as POM)
  •  1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray your bundt cake pan with cooking spray. Be generous!

2) In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, both sugars, baking soda and salt.

3) In a medium glass bowl melt the butter in the microwave. Mix in the cocoa. Allow the mixture to cool for 2-3 minutes. Whisk in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla.

4) Combine cocoa mixture and pomegranate juice into the dry ingredients. Stir until all ingredients are well blended. Add chocolate chips.

5) Pour into the prepared bundt pan, and bake for 45-50 minutes. Or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 15 minutes, then turn pan over onto a plate. Allow to cool completely, then sprinkle with powder sugar.

6) I used a disposable bundt cake pan from Roberts to help keep the mess to a minimum. I do a lot of baking around this time of year, and hate cleaning.

Your home is sure to be filled with the wonderful aroma of blended chocolate and pomegranate!

Now that you know how to make this delicious treat, you can start to put together an amazing dessert table for you New Years party! These look so fancy, you're guaranteed to get the 'ooooh! aaaaah!' effect!

Perpetual Calendar

By Brett Lund 1 Crafty Guy

For this project you will need the following supplies:

All paper is from Basic Grey™

Black distress ink

Black letter stickers

Cinch™ machine from WR Memory Keepers™

1” black Cinch™ wire

Thin chipboard

Thick chipboard

You first need to take the thicker chipboard and cut to 12” x 9”. You want to score the chipboard at 5” from one side and 5” from the other side. For scoring the chipboard, use a paper slicer and score the board. Don’t cut all the way into the chipboard. Just score it a little so it will be able to fold.

Out of the thin chipboard, you will want to cut 33 pieces of chipboard 1 ½” x 5”.

If you notice you will see the breakdown of how many pieces of chipboard you will need tor each stack.

For the larger pieces of chipboard, I decided to cut 24 of them 3” x 5”. These pieces of chipboard I’m going to put various pictures on them. I’m also going to scatter quotes throughout them.

Now repeat the counts for the pieces of patterned paper.

So when it is all said and done you will have 33 pieces of patterned paper, 33 pieces of chipboard 1 ½” x 5”, you will have 24 pieces of patterned paper and 24 pieces of chipboard sized 3” x 5”.

Adhere the patterned paper to the chipboard pieces. Ink the edges with the black distress ink of you would like.

Using the letter stickers, adhere the days, months, and numbers to the pieces of chipboard.

Cut two pieces of patterned paper 5” x 9”. Glue them to the chipboard base stand.

Using the Cinch machine you are going to punch the holes in the chipboard base, as well as the chipboard days and numbers.

Once you have punched all the numbers, letters and photo squares, you will bind them using the cinch machine.

Enjoy your calendar throughout the year.

Happy crafting!

Holiday Card Magnet Board

Hi all Roberts Craft readers. I am Vanessa over from Our Thrifty Ideas. I write daily about how to be a Mom on a budget, and love it!

Today's craft is going to fit right in with everyone's holiday budget!

Today in the mail we got our first holiday card. Unfortunately, we didn't have anywhere to put it. Since this is the first year our fridge is full of drawings and such done from our son, we don't have the empty space on it for our cards! So of course, I had to make a new way to display them for the rest of the season!!

Holiday Card Magnet Board:

What you'll need:

Most of my products are from the Karen Foster Design line

     12 x 12 frame

     12 x 12 piece of holiday paper

     Christmas embellishments

"Christmas" Stacked Statement by Karen Foster Design

Holiday Charms by Karen Foster Design

Holiday Chilly Cubes by Karen Foster Design

     Magnets

     Ribbon

     Hole Punch

1. Start by punching 2 holes in the metal down about a 1/2 inch more than the width of your frame (my frame is about 1/2 inch wide, so I punched my holes 1 inch down) make sure to space out the holes evenly from each side!

2. Repeat the same on the paper (I found it easiest to lay my paper on top of the metal and poke it with a pencil to make the hole!)

 3. Then put the paper and then the metal sheet into the frame.

4.  I used the "Christmas" Stacked Statement from Karen Foster Design to embellish the bottom of the page to add extra detail.

 5. Then tie the ribbon around the top, through both holes to hang your board!

Now for the magnets!

1. Just remove the backing on the chilly cubes and stick the magnet to the back! It really is that easy!

Now you are ready to use these magnets to hold up your Christmas Cards!

After stepping back and looking at the full thing, I realized it needed a little more detail to top it off! So I used on of the holiday charms in the upper corner, attached it to the ribbon, and voila!

PERFECT!

This is a great way to display all of the cards that you receive, but now that you have the base and concept, you can use it year round for other cards or to display pictures!

Just switch out the ribbon, paper, and embellishments to match the season!! Birthday cards,Valentines celebrations, or even Back to School reminders would be perfect on this board!!

Do you love the paper and embellishments used in the project? You could win them plus a ton more over at Our Thrifty Ideas! I am giving away 5 stockings full of great prizes to help with everyone's Bah-Humbug mood as they go through the holiday shopping experience. And one stocking is completely full of wonderful Karen Foster Design products from Roberts Crafts!

Thanks for letting me visit today Roberts Crafts readers! I hope to meet you back here again! But until then, please visit Our Thrifty Ideas for all of your daily budget meeting techniques!

Paper Flower Wreath

By Melissa, our store manager at the Orem Roberts

For this project I used:
- Imaginisce Cottage Christmas paper (6 different patterns 2 sheets of each. Plus 1 extra sheet of each style after cutting into circles divide between the styles)
- 2 matching Core'dinations Cardstock colors. (3 sheets of each)
- 14 inch Styrofoam wreath
- Floral Tape
- Imaginisce Flower Roller
- Imaginisce Flower Pattern
- Glue Gun and Glue sticks
- Matching Ribbon

First I cut the paper in 3 1/2 in circles with my Cricut machine. You'll be able to get 9 circles out of each sheet of paper. After cutting all of the paper circles out, I traced and cut out all of the swirls on each of the circles.

On the Cardstock flowers I sanded up the edges to give the flowers a two toned look.

Using the Flower Roller I rolled all of the flowers.

To hold the flower shape I placed a dob of Hot glue on the center of the bottom of the flower.

Press the middle of the flower down into the hot glue until it's dried enough to keep the flower in place.
After wrapping the Ribbon on the Styrofoam wreath I started hot gluing the flowers on around the wreath.

Almost there...

And voila, we have a Paper Flower Wreath!!!
