For today’s “Spot the Product” post, I wanted to show you two products, both by Provo Craft.
Provo Craft recently released a Cuttlebug Version 2. Now people ask me the question, why do I want a Cuttlebug 2? What was wrong with the other Cuttlebug? Does it do other things that the original one does not do? The answer is the Cuttlebug v. 2 is a slim line design, but the opening is the exact same size as the other one. The width is a little bit wider, and the handle folds out on the v2. Other than that, they are the exact same.
So I guess what I’m saying, is if you already have a Cuttlebug, you don’t need to go out and buy a v2. It will do the exact same thing as the newer model.
What I like to focus on that’s awesome from Provo Craft is their new embossing dies. They have some really fun embossing folders, and they have a very deep impression, which makes it nice if you want to sand over the top or ink or just leave the way it is.
Another thing that Provo Craft has done with their embossing folders is they have made sets of folders that coordinate with certain Cricut cartridges. One of my favorites is the “Once Upon a Princess.” I like that one because you could easily use it for birthday also.
In addition to folders matching Cricut cartridges, Provo Craft has also released folders that are a set of them.
If you notice in my example I used the “Retro Kitchen” folders. I love this set. I can think of so many uses for this set. Not to mention it went really well with “Nifty Fifty’s” and you could easily use it with “From the Kitchen” cartridge also.
If you look in the example that I have made, I cut out the blender image in 5” and then I took the layer and ran it through the “Retro Kitchen” embossing folder. I glued everything together and on the inside, it says, “We’re the perfect blend.” I love how this card turned out. I love the look of the card. I love everything about it. Funny, I wonder if I was supposed to be born in that era.
Anyway, I hope you have fun using the new embossing folders and the new “Nifty Fifty’s” cartridge.
Until then, Happy Crafting!

Thanks for sharing! I was wondering what the differences were going to be. Guess I can live with my original, but looks like I'll be needing some new folders!

Cute card!! Thanks for the info on the Cuttlebug and folders.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll "gift" my cuttlebug to my sil who wants one, and buy the new one for me. I like the folding handle. I also like the embossing folders. I'll have to use my Rewards coupon that has been burning a hole in my wallet for a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE my Cuttlebug! I have a question about the deeper impression folders. Some of my folders nearly cut through cardstock and if I'm not really careful I'll pull holes in the paper when taking it out of the folder after embossing. Do you recommend a heavier paper weight than cardstock? How do I overcome this issue? Thanks! rosalie@ipsdentist.com
