Gift Card Holder - Barb

Hello! It's Barb from Crafty Girl! I had a wonderful weekend celebrating Thanksgiving with family and friends but now it is time to start thinking about Christmas! As much as I try to find the perfect gift for each and every person on my list, sometimes the most perfect gift is a gift card. And I don't know about you, but if I am going to give a gift card, then I want to personalize it with the way I "wrap" it! Today, I am going to share a fast and easy way to make the gift card giving a little more personal!

First, start with a 4 inch by 6 inch piece of cardstock. Score the cardstock at 3 1/2 inches and 7 1/4 inches.

The smaller section that you scored will be the flap for your gift card holder. You can leave it just as it is but I like to punch the edge with my Martha Stewart punch. It gives it a more finished look.

Now we are going to make the pocket for the gift card that fits inside the gift card holder. Take a 4 inch by 6 inch piece of coordinating patterned paper. On the 4 inch side, score it at 1/2 inch. On the 6 inch side, score it at 1 3/4 inches and again at 4 1/4 inches.

Fold the 4 by 6 inch paper on the scored lines and use adhesive to secure. This will become the pocket for the gift card. I like to use a circle punch to punch out a half circle so it is easier to remove the gift card from the pocket. I also added some brown ink to the edges. For the bottom section, add a piece of coordinating patterned paper that is 2 inches by 4 1/2 inches. Decorate it any way you like. I used Websters paper and chipboard buttons for this along with some Martha Stewart punches! I also made a little card to fit into the pocket so I can write a personalized note to the person receiving the gift.

To finish up the project, I added coordinating patterned paper, ric rac and a chipboard button to the front. I inked the edges of this paper as well. To keep the flap secure to the front, add a piece of velcro under the button.
