You Made What With WHAT?!

Hey everyone, it's Brie! I am so excited that I get to do a guest post today! I've had a lot of fun finding other people to guest post while Brooke, our marketing coordinator and the girl who normally runs the blog, has been on maternity leave. I was SO excited when she asked me to do a post myself before she left. I thought it'd be a fun opportunity to introduce myself, as you've all seen me sign all the facebook updates for the last little while.

My job for Roberts is seriously my dream job! My "official" title is Graphic Designer. I gave myself the title of Senior Graphic Designer as a joke when I first started, because I'm the ONLY designer, but they put it on my nameplate, so I went with it! haha! (The bossman upgraded me to Creative Master of the Universe, Executive Director recently. But it's not on the nameplate. Yet. ;) I design all of the weekly ads, posters, banners, and anything else printed in the stores. Brochures, signs, discount cards, the rewards cards, etc. etc. I also design the web graphics that change each week on the homepage of the website and the emails that you all sign up for. And I take all the product pictures (you'll see my kids in all the pictures of frames. haha!) They keep me busy, and I love it! I've also had the chance to be in a couple of our youtube videos, and some that we did with Northridge Publishing and Kristine McKay. Those were SUPER fun to do! I am truly lucky to be where I am, working with the people I do. We are friends and family at the office! (So now you know who to blame for typos on the ads. LOL)

It's ME!! (Taken from my "best side" ;)

A lot of you probably don't know, but I have my own blog that I run on the side, Vintage 53. I'd love to see my Roberts friends over there sometime! I just started it a few months ago, and I've been having a lot of fun with it. I post tons of random projects and combine it with healthy living/training tips and information. Aside from crafting, healthy living and exercise is a huge passion of mine!

Ok. Enough about me. On to the projects!! There were SO many things I wanted to do for this post. I could not choose between doing a scrapbook project or showing off some jewelry. So I thought. . . let's combine the two! Who knew you could make the CUTEST jewelry pieces with scrapbook supplies?

I made this bracelet by taking a leather bracelet kit from our general crafts section, some Glossy Accents and adhered brads and embellishments by Bo Bunny to it. I'M LOVING IT!

These stunning little chandelier charms were made with SEI scrapbook paper adhered with Glossy Accents to the charms made by 7 Gypsies. They come in a pack full of fun chandelier looking pieces! You could use a jump ring to add some fun silver charms that dangle from the top point of the charm, add it to a chain and you have an amazing, stylish necklace that you would have paid a shameful amount of money for at a boutique. ;) We have brought in the funnest charms and beads from Cousins™ that have arrived at all the stores now. Including SO many different chains and findings!

Onto the earrings!! The gears here came from 7 Gypsies, and the clear beads came from that pack of chandelier pieces. Add some jump rings, done and done. :)

These earrings were probably the most "complicated". And they really weren't all that hard. The pewter rings are also from 7 Gypsies. They came in a pack with a bunch in there, so you could make yourself and all your friends a pair! Take an eyepin, put it through a bead and make a loop of the other end. Add a jump ring, attach the earring part and you're done! (See, really not that complicated. You can do it, I promise.)

These are simply brads from Bo Bunny. I took off the brad part with my beading pliers and used Glossy Accents to attach the earring posts to the back. I LOVE the sayings on them! Laughter and dreams are two of my favorite things! :)

These are all made the same way as the Bo Bunny brads. These are from the Posh collection from Teresa Collins Designs. I got 9 pairs of earrings from ONE pack of brads! Aren't they adorable?

And guess what. All my "backdrops" for these photos are just scrapbook paper. There are SOOO many more things you can do with scrapbook supplies than just scrapbook. Honestly. . . confession time. I have SO many scrapbook supplies and yet I rarely do any actual scrapbooking. haha! I use them for home décor pieces, mixed media artwork and now jewelry!

I hope this post gave you some new ideas and got some creative juices flowing! Next time I'll post some home décor project ideas using scrapbook supplies. Or something equally as fun. ;)

Thanks for reading everyone!! Have an amazing day!

Birthday Cards that Flip, Move, Slide, Turn, and Pop

Congratulations, Amanda!! I sent you an email, just reply back to it with your info and we'll get your prize shipped out to you. :)

Stay tuned everyone. . . I'll get the Freebie Friday post up momentarily. :)

Birthday cards don't have to be blah and boring. Make these simple birthday cards using the Animal Crackers paper line from Imaginisce, and tools from Doodlebug Design.

Today on Studio 5 we are having another "Create with Cricut Tuesday." The cartridge that we will be using is the Birthday Bash cartridge.

I really enjoyed this cartridge. I like how there are many different images that I could choose from. Many animals that went along with the images, and a really cute basic alphabet was included.

In addition to that, some of the features include, phrases, cards, tags and even towards the end of the book, there are lots of different shapes to create banners. So cute!

I will be showing you 5 different Birthday cards on today's spot. I will be only featuring one of the cards, but the rest of them I will show you with pictures and instructions. Coming soon there will also be videos showing how I made them. (I'm a visual kind of guy)

Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

And starting today, you can enter to win your own copy of Birthday Bash, along with paper from Imaginsce, and some really fun crafting tools from Doodlebug Design. We'll announce the winner on Friday!

Freebie Friday

CONGRATULATIONS Diana!! I sent you an email that you can reply back to with your information.
Thanks for entering everyone!! Be sure you enter in Brett's giveaway going on now on the Birthday Cards that Flip, Move, Slide, Turn, and Pop post. And, as always, see you back here for Freebie Friday!

Spring is upon us! What does that mean besides the season of cleaning? Why, breaking out the spring wardrobe, of course! Today's Freebie Friday giveaway will help expand that wardrobe a little bit. . .

It includes 16 iron on transfers from American Crafts. Every design is SO CUTE! You can use an old shirt and dress it up to make it "new" or come in to Roberts and choose from our selection of t-shirts. I even used one of these iron ons on a linen cover of my calendar at work that reminds me of what blog post goes up on what day. lol! I've used iron ons on canvases as well, for those that enjoy painting and mixed media art. Sky's the limit!

To go along with the spring wardrobe theme, I've included two spools of American Crafts flower ribbon. It would be so easy to sew/attach it on to the collar of a shirt to turn it into one of those shirts you can buy in boutiques for crazy amounts of money. :) There's pastel pink and a butter yellow. Perfect spring colors!

BONUS Giveaway!

YAY Abby!! I've sent you an email, reply back with your info and we'll get your prize sent out to you.  :)

Thanks for entering and sharing, everyone! keep it up and we'll have more BONUS giveaways soon!

Ok, we hit 6,250 fans SUPER fast! For those who may have missed the post, I made a goal to hit 7,000 facebook fans before our marketing coordinator, Brooke, comes back from maternity leave. We can SO do it! To give incentive to share our page with everyone you know, we're doing giveaways when we hit 6,250, 6,500, 6,750 and a big awesome giveaway at 7,000 fans. Or "likers". (I like the sound of fans so much more! haha) Since we can't do any kind of giveaways on facebook, as per facebook's rules, we will still have to run the giveaway on the blog.

So. Comment on this post to enter the giveaway. This one will only be two comment entries per person. One to enter, and one to say you shared our facebook page. :) I've changed how comments work on the blog, so you don't have to have your email show on each entry. You still enter your information when you comment, but it will not show up in the comment once it's posted. It's really an awesome comment feature, because now we can reply directly to any comments or questions posted by you. YAY for technology, eh? ;)

For today's bonus giveaway, I thought it would be fun to include the little crafters in our lives. I know my kids LOVE to do their own art projects while I'm working on my own various projects. And there's enough in this giveaway to keep any kid entertained for a while! Might give you some "quiet" time to work on your own projects. (This is not a guarantee. Roberts can not be held responsible if your quiet time is only 5 minutes. We'll cross our fingers for you that it's at least ten. lol!)

This giveaway contains:
• Make your own bouncy ball kit and accessories
• Fingerpaint
• Alphabet Stampers
• Clip & Color Markers
• Watercolors
• 3D Metallic Gel
• Blast Effects Dual Action Spray Writers
• Sidewalk Chalk

Lori Gentile Gets ORGANIZED!

Our blogger today is Lori Gentile. I came across her blog and just fell in love with all her cute projects and stunning scrapbook layouts! I asked her to do a post for us, and she offered to show us an example of how she organizes her creative supplies using products we carry at Roberts and at robertscrafts.com. I loved that idea, as I am currently trying to organize my creative CHAOS at the moment. ;) Swing by her blog and show her some love! :)

Hello Roberts Crafts blog readers. My name is Lori Gentile and I’m really excited to be a guest on the blog, today. Thank you for having me!

I’ve been scrapbooking for over 11 years and in that time have accumulated just a tiny bit of scrappy stuff. Ha! Over the years I have struggled with keeping my stuff organized in a way that, also, keeps me motivated and inspired. It took learning what my scrapbooking process is, to understand how to organize.

A sample of my scrapbooking, using Crate Paper Restoration Collection found HERE
Once I had established my process, organizing my space became very simple. In short, my process boils down to color. Whether I start with a product, a story or a picture, my next step is always building my page around a color scheme. Because of this, I knew I had to organize by color. The other important thing I learned about my process is that I’m lazy. If it’s too much work to find something, I just skip it. So, that meant I needed to store items in a way that would provide quick access.

I thought it might be fun to share some of my favorite color organizing tips with you,
today, and give you a peak into my organization style.

I use color totes as my main stash storage. I have one tote for each of these color categories; reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, pinks/purples, whites, browns and blacks/greys. This works really well for my style because when I am working on a project that uses blue and yellow, I can quickly pull out my blue and yellow totes and find everything I need to complete the project.

I got the red Rubbermaid canvas totes from Target. This is my blue tote. I tie a piece of ribbon onto each tote so I know what color is inside. Inside I have two floss boxes (one with loose embellishments and one with ribbon), a ziplock bag of flowers, all of my blue alphabets and all other types of embellishments that will not fit into my floss box, such as stickers and tags. I leave everything in the tote loosely. I like to pull it out and flip through it quickly.

These floss boxes are the best organizing investment out there. They come with 17
divided compartments and include the floss/ribbon cards for winding ribbon.

Find them on the Roberts website HERE

They work perfectly for any sized stash. I love that they are see through, so I can easily scan what’s inside before I even open the lid. I love being able to root around in the box for the little doo dads I want to use.

I’ve been using these Cropper Hopper Vertical Paper Holders since they came on the market. I love them! I do not put them on the shelf the way they are intended. I flip them onto their side, so the top of the holder is looking at me. This way, I can flip through my paper and pull what I want without having to pull the entire holder off the shelf to get inside. I don’t use a lot of cardstock, so it’s pretty simple to color organize my stash. For my patterned papers, I also organize by color. If the paper is multi-colored, I sort it by type (floral, stripe, etc).

Find these jars HERE and HERE

I have a thing for buttons. A girl can never have too many of these, at least not this girl. I like to keep mine in clear jars by color. Since I use buttons on everything, I keep them out and readily available. I, also, like using different sized jars to store my buttons.

Find this tote HERE
Along the lines of open, easy to find storage, I use a tote for my desktop to store all of my adhesives, tools, pens, brushes, rulers, pencils, etc. It’s really messy looking, but it houses everything I need to create projects and it sits on my desk right next to me when I create. Because the tote is open, I can easily find everything I need. This is one of my favorite pieces in my room. It’s made my crafting so much easier!

That’s a peak into my organization style. I hope I helped at least some of you find a little bit of inspiration. Thank you for taking the tine to read my post.

Freebie Friday! YAY!

It was so much fun reading about everyone's favorite scents and memories! Thank you, so much, for sharing them! :) It's fun getting to know you ladies! (And guys, don't want to leave any guys that might be following out. ;)
On to the winner!

Congratulations Kristie!!! Email me at bpinales@robertscrafts.com and we'll get these candle warmers sent to you.

Have an amazing day everyone!!

Here is this week's Freebie Friday prize!

I don't know about you, but a big reason I craft and make projects is to create a memory. Or to celebrate a memory. Or to solidify a memory so that it will never be forgotten. Does it seem to you that certain scents can spark a memory? Or that certain scents co-exist with things like holidays and seasons? A cinnamon stick can bring to life a Christmas long since past, or fresh flowers can bring a spring day indoors. Summer is watermelon, there's no other way to describe it! Fall is pumpkins and cookies. I still use Baby Magic lotion on my kids, because I LOVE that new baby lotion smell. LOL! I thought it would be fun to giveaway these candle warmers to celebrate memories in a different way. And because Spring is upon us, a new fresh scent in the house is like instant spring cleaning! Roberts carries the most amazing selection of wax melts from Hobble Creek and Salt City, but if you don't live near a Roberts location, these candle warmers work with any wax melt.

I'd love to read about what your favorite memories are, and how a certain smell can bring that all back for you! Comment on this post to enter the giveaway. There's plenty of extra entries available too! So get commenting!!

(I promise I haven't forgotten the extra giveaways to get us to 7,000 Facebook fans! It's been a super busy week in the office, and we've grown so many fans faster than even I was hoping! Keep it up!! Continue to share our pages, we really REALLY appreciate the support and love! :D I'll get the 6,250 giveaway posted shortly. We're almost to our 6,500 giveaway!! You are all amazing!)
