Confessions of a Floor Crafter

Our winner is .. . .
MELISSA ( www.disneydreamerdesigns.blogspot.com)

"I love Lifetimes tables! I have two in my crafting area and one I take with me to crops!

My dream crafting area would have a big island with drawers and cubby's all around it and countertops and cupboards in a "U" shape all around the room.

If I won this table set it would be used for my Yudu station! Right now my Yudu is still in the box!"

Have so much fun creating your yudu station! That sounds fantastic. I've sent you an email, reply back to it and Lifetime will get your new table and chairs sent out to you!!
It's been so much fun reading about everyone's dream craft room. Or real craft room for those ladies who have them. (I'm suffering from craft room envy now. LOL) Thank you, everyone, for your comments and showing Lifetime some comment love on their facebook! This was such a fun giveaway, thank you SOOOO much to Lifetime!!! Happy 25th Anniversary to you!!!

Ok, I know I've said it before, but I am SO JEALOUS of whoever wins this prize!! You have no idea. For YEARS, ever since I knew what crafting even was,  I've done all my craft/scrapbook/beading/painting projects either on my floor  or on my bed. LOL! Someday, SOMEDAY I will have my own place, with my own craft room WITH TABLES! :D Until then, I'm having fun perusing magazines and idea blogs and seeing how other people set up their craft rooms and getting my dream room planned out. (Let's be honest, I do the same thing with wedding blogs/magazines. I'm gonna have the most colorful, insanely awesome wedding ever if I ever get married! lol!)

So when Lifetime contacted me about joining forces for the most fantastic giveaway ever, I was beyond excited to be able to help one of my fellow crafter's with their dream craft room!

To celebrate National Scrapbook Day AND Lifetime's 25th Anniversary (congrats guys!!) in a big way, Lifetime and Roberts have teamed up to offer up this:

And 4 of these to go with it:

(Insert a choir singing the "Hallelujah Chorus" here!)

The table is 6' long, and it folds in half so if you need to pack up and head to a crop, you can take the table with you, if you need extra crafting space. (We all know how the creative chaos spreads!) It has a handle and is lightweight to make it super easy and convenient! It's UV protected, won't crack, chip or peel and they're built for indoor or outdoor use. (In case you want to use it for a picnic table. The sky is the limit!) They wash off so easy, so after crafting clean up will be a breeze! (Too bad they're not SELF cleaning, eh? hahaha!) And with 4 chairs included, you can invite your bestest crafting gals over for a craft night or do projects with the kiddos!

AND Lifetime has offered an exclusive coupon just for our blog and facebook followers!

Click the image, then save it to your computer to print and bring in to the Lifetime store, or use the coupon code online.

Is everyone good and excited yet? I thought so. ;)

The time for entries begins today, April 29 and ends May 6 at midnight. So get your comments in before then!! You definitely don't want put it off and forget to enter. ;) We'll pick a winner on May 7th, which is National Scrapbooking Day! I'll announce it on this post once I have a winner, and will notify them by email. (Winners are always picked by random.org)

Paper Flowers

Today's guest blogger is Tanya, from the Scrappy Scavenger blog. Be sure to check out all the fun projects posted on her blog as well! She made these amazing flowers out of paper and was awesome enough to send us the instructions for them!

To make the red carnation on the left:

I started with 5 scallop cuts at 2 1/2 inches:

I inked them:

Then I piled them up,  punched a center hole, and attached my brad as tightly and close as possible. It will be tugged on quite a bit, so you don't want the paper or cardstock sliding and tearing under the brad.  Keep in mind this is the center of your flower, so you may want to use glitter or flocking on it, if you want it open enough to see the brad. I really like mine more closed, but you can make a couple different ones, which makes it look as if you have more types of flowers in your bouquette.  (That's one of my secrets!)  Completely open it looks like a poppy!

Pull up the first layer to the center and squish and pinch, paying close attention to making sure the bottom of the center is squished tightly. Working around the circle making a fan fold may be  necessary working with the thickness of cardstock because its a little harder to just squash into place as paper or tissue would be.

Repeat wit all layers till you achivve the cylinder shape. I like to press it tightly all around.

Then I like to press the tips of the petals in the ink at this point.

Now carefully open it outer layer first working to the center untill you get your desired result, I like to make a lot and vary them.

Have an amazing day everyone! Check back on Friday for the next giveaway, it really is amazing! I can't wait to have it post so you can see what it is!!

And if you're like me and you do all your crafting on your bed or on your floor, the stability factor is fantastic! lol
• 3 Bugs in a Rug "Tool Time" collection. I am in love with all the little robots in there! I have two boys and adore it when companies come out with cute boy supplies that aren't camouflage or camp fire related. Who's with me? ;)

• Karen Foster sparkle burst brads - These are my most favorite brads I think I've ever seen. SO FUN
• Clear acrylic block for stamping from Studio G

Glitter Eggs - Brett Lund on Studio 5

Congratulations, Dayna!! I'll be sending you an email, just reply back to it with your info and we'll get your prize out to you. :)

Today on Studio 5, I demonstrated many different ways he decorated wooden Easter eggs.

Make sure that you also enter to win one of our two drawings this week. One prize you will be receiving enough glitter and supplies to make your own glitter eggs, the other prize is a retired, hard to find Easter 2010 Cricut Cartridge.

Here are the supplies and the instructions
Supplies:
Terrifically Tacky Tape in Sheets
Assorted punches
White spray paint

Instructions:

Shaped images
1, Spray the eggs white.
2. Punch out of the Tacky Tape in the sheet assorted shapes with the punches or you can  even cut out the shapes with the Cricut.
3. Peel off one side of the paper.
4. Stick the image onto the egg.
5. Repeat until all images are on the egg.
6. Peel off the top layer on the images.
7. Sprinkle the glitter over the images.
8. Burnish the glitter with your finger to make sure the glitter is completely covering the image.
9. Brush away any excess glitter from the egg.

Polka Dot
1. Spray the eggs white
2. Take the glitter glue and with the eraser part of your pencil or something round, dip it into the glue then stamp onto the egg.
3. When the entire egg has dots, sprinkle glitter onto the dots.
4. Set the egg off to dry.

Something that I thought of while I was doing the instructions, for the polka dot egg, you could easily use glue dots in assorted sizes. That way it would me much quicker if you needed the eggs sooner and wouldn’t have to wait for drying time.

Stripes
1. Spray the eggs white
2. Take the ¼” tape and apply it to the egg in any pattern you would like.
3. When all the tape is on your egg, peel off some strips, leaving others still covered, and sprinkle glitter on the exposed strips.
4. Burnish the glitter with your finger to make sure the glitter is completely covering the image.
5. Brush away any excess glitter from the egg.
6. Repeat with the other strips.

Glitter covered egg
1. Take an egg that has not been painted, and cover it completely with the glitter glue.
2. Sprinkle the glitter completely over the glue.
3. Brush off any excess glitter.
4. Set the egg off to dry before handling.

With this technique, I found it the easiest to do only half of the egg first. Cover it with glitter, let it dry. Repeat with the other half of the egg. If you need to, perform touch ups with the exposed spots.

And because you guys are our favorites, we're including a giveaway!

Included is everything you need to make your own glitter eggs!
• 2 Paper Maché Eggs
• 12 pack of Martha Steward Glitter
• White Acrylic Paint (2oz)
• 1/4" Terrifically Tacky Tape
• Terrifically Tacky Sheets
• Martha Stewart Glimmer Glue
• Martha Stewart Glitter Trays

And we're adding a SECOND prize!

Easter 2010 cartridge, which is no longer available through Provo Craft. YAY!

Not Just a Housewife

Hi! I am Stacy from Not JUST A Housewife and I am going to show you how to make this mossy spring wreath.

Here are all the supplies (except the glue) that I used. The unfinished wood frame cost $1.00, the paint was about the same, the foam brush is even less than that, the sticks were free (backyard) and the moss was $5 and change for the whole big bag.

The first thing you need to do is paint the frame brown. This way the parts of the frame that don't get completely covered with sticks won't be obvious.

Then use your handy dandy glue gun to glue the sticks in place. This is the most time consuming step. Be careful to not go overboard with the glue because you don't want it oozing out all over. You can make it neat with straight lines or messy like a bird's nest. It is up to you.

Then play around with the placement of the moss before you commit to gluing. Use as much or as little as you want. Once it is where you want it, then glue it down.

Easter is almost here so you could even add a little bird nest to it. How cute would this be with a Easter cross stitch or Easter print inside the frame???

You can hang it as is. . .

...or add ribbon to hang it.
Have fun making your own version of this moss frame!!! And for more ideas come visit me at my blog Not JUST A Housewife.
Roberts is having a giveaway on my blog so make sure to come and enter that too :)

Guest Designer - Courtney Lee

Hello! I am Courtney Lee and Roberts Crafts so kindly asked me to be a Guest Designer for today! I am so thrilled to be here! Thank you so much to Roberts Crafts and to Imaginisce for this opportunity!

I am on the 2011 Imaginisce Design Team and I have to say, they are SO fabulous and SO generous. Our fearless leader Lori Allred is so talented and encouraging and kind. I feel very blessed to be apart of the Design Team. I live in San Francisco with my handsome husband and sweet Yorkie named Spoon. I love all things Provo Craft and Imaginisce and would love for you to stop by my blog: http://CourtsCrafts.blogspot.com

It's springtime and that means flowers and sweet smells and GARDEN PARTIES! Naturally I wanted to use my Garden Party line by Imaginisce to create the things needed in order to throw your own garden party and I hope this inspires you to do so!

I am going to provide step by step instruction and under all of the pictures and instructions there will be a recipe list that links to all of the products used. Enjoy!
****************************

First up you need an INVITATION

I cut this out on my Gypsy using two layers and the 6x6 paper pack from Imaginisce's Garden Party™ using the Mother's Day Bouquet Cartridge™.

This first layer is the card base. I cut it out of white card stock. I welded the shapes together to make a shape card that would still fit inside of an A2 sized envelope. If you have the Gypsy and Mother's Day Bouquet and would like the cut file, please email me at CourtsCraftsBlog@gmail.com and I would be happy to send it to you!

This next layer is everything that went on top of the white base. It is all cut from the Imaginsce's Garden Party 6x6 Paper Pad.

This is what it looked like after it was cut out (don't mind my dirty mat!).

You can see the beginning of the assembly starting to take place, but I have a video for you using the i-top to make the centers for my flowers out of brads. This is what was used:

Here is another video on how I used the i-bond™ from Imaginisce to attach the flower to the card base:

This is the finished product!

Next up you need to have NAME PLACECARDS

These could also VERY easily be transformed into name tags using the accessories for the i-top - the badge daddies which have pins on the back! You don't even need the front, just use your i-bond to attach the name tag to the pin! I digress... There are so many creative ideas out there! :)

I wanted to make something quick and easy for this. This was my first time using Hampton Art Stamps and they were great! They stamped wonderfully and so clear!

Instructions
  1. Cut a 6x4" piece of paper from the Garden Party Brambleberry Blossoms™ pattern. Score and fold in half.
  2. Cut a 3 7/8x 2 7/8 piece of white card stock. (I wish I would have made a bigger border so you could see more of the patterned paper so you may want to cut this at 3.75x2.75")
  3. Using Hampton Arts Stamps "A Dandelion Garden" and "A Bird Sings" stamp your images onto the white cardstock and use white embossing powder to heat emboss them both.
  4. Using SmoochSpritz in Cosmo Pink spray the white card stock generously. Use an ink smudger to move the ink around quickly as it will dry quickly.
  5. Adhere to card and write the name of the person who will be sitting there.

I think every party needs a BANNER!

Here is what my table looks like mid-project and mid-decision making!

Instructions
  1. I cut 5 round shadow banner shapes using Birthday Bash at 4 inches. Make sure the real dial size is off.
  2. Then I cut 5 round banner shapes (not the shadow this time) out of white cardstock also at 4".
  3. I used Core'dinations card stock for the burgundy shadow of the letters spelling out "Party" using the Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art Cartridge™ (Did you know that the Cake cartridges work perfectly in your Cricut too and are designed for that? I love them!) at 2".
  4. Next cut the letters again with the shadow off this time out of the Garden Party collection at 2" (real dial size off).
  5. Use adhesive to attach both banner to the banner shadow and letter to the letter shadow.
  6. Choose various die cuts from the Garden Party Collection. I used flowers from both packages of die cuts.
  7. Use your d-stress tool to sand off all bumps and distress edges of the die cuts. Here is a video showing that:

8. Adhere various die cuts to different parts of the banner.
9. Using foam dimensionals adhere letters to banner segments.
10. Using your Crop-a-dile, attach eyelets to banner segments.
11. Using the Garden Party Collection Ribbons, cut segments and tie bows between each segment to connect them.

12. Using your i-rock by Imaginisce and the swirls stencil, attach pink gems where you would like them.

Here is a video of me attaching my gems to this project:
Here is a link to the Jewel Setting Sticks that I mentioned in the video.

Admire your finished project which in my case became the center piece.

You simply must have FAVOR BOXES for your guests and these do just the trick!

I used Wrap it Up Cartridge for the favor box and thank you card (coming up!).

Instructions
  1. Cut the gift box bottom and top with real dial size off at 11".
  2. Score using the Martha Stewart Score Board and fold.
  3. Adhere the grass to the fence part.
  4. I added twine for stability and color.
  5. A friend showed me how to take something she called "skittles" and turn them into bees. She gave me some of her own so I'm so sorry I don't know where to get them. I do know where to get candy skittles though! Love them! Oh wait, there I go off track again.... I simply used a black thin tip Sharpie to draw stripes on the underside of the yellow gem. I adhered it to the white card stock and used a thin tip pen to draw the head, antennae, and bee trail.

Finally, because your guests were so magnanimous and brought you such nice things because you were such a lovely hostess, you need a THANK YOU CARD.

Instructions
  1. Cut fence from Wrap it Up at 3".
  2. Hit the "Fit to Length" button on your Cricut and then set the dial to 4.25". This will cut the image at a corresponding size height to 4.25" long. This is one of my favorite feature buttons on the Cricut.
  3. Cut a 2.75"x 4 1/8" piece of both the green Garden Party paper and a piece of white cardstock.
  4. Adhere the green piece to the bottom half of the card. However, do not put adhesive at the top corners of the piece as a ribbon will be adhered behind it.
  5. Using the method described in the Name Place Card section above, heat emboss the words "thanks a bunch" using Hampton Art Clear Stamps "We Make a Great Pair". Then using the same color of Smooch Spritz in Cosmo Pink, blend in entirely.
  6. Adhere pink layer to card being sure not to put adhesive in the bottom corners as the ribbon will be going behind this layer.
  7. Using the Imaginisce: Garden Party Ribbons, cut a piece 4.5" long and adhere behind green layer and behind pink layer at the bottom bisecting the card.
  8. Ink around edges of fence with brown ink.
  9. Adhere fence to card using foam dimensionals.
  10. Attach a Garden Party Sticker Stacker to the top left of the fence.
  11. Using your petal roller, i-bond, and d-stress, create the Roly Rosie that is on the card. Here is a video showing you how I did it:

12. Add the bees using the same process as was described in the favor box section. You're done!
